The mission of FixHIV is to get affordable PrEP, HIV and HBV medications to patients around the world. While FixHIV is new, it’s brought to you be the crew at FixHepC which was established back in 2014 to help patients with Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) access the new (but still frightfully expensive) medications that had just reached the market. Over the past 5 year we have built up some great relationships with suppliers of high quality generic medication and achieved delivery to over 160 countries.
The plan for FixHIV is simple. Use all our existing systems to get PrEP, HIV and HBV medications to patients. With new medications like Tenofovir Alafenamide (TAF) infinitely preferable to Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate (TDF) due to the significant reduction in bone and kidney side effects, we think anyone taking FTC/TDF PrEP should be seriously considering changing that to FTC/TAF.
Atripla (EFZ/FTC/TDF) has done a great job for many years but is getting a bit long in the tooth. Over the next few year it will be replaced as the #1 treatment of choice by Dolutegravir/FTC/TAF – and for good reasons such as getting rid of the TDF issues and the drug drug interactions that plague EFZ. At the moment DTG/FTC/TAF is not easily available but it can be sourced as a 2 pill combination. This is particularly important for patients who have been on TDF base HAART for many years.
